KEEP this to yourselves if you don't mind. My missus asked the other night if I've ever considered trying Viagra.
But she soon changed her tune when I told her it costs a tenner a tablet. She reckons £30 a year is way too expensive.
My mate Peter has already spent far too much money on the little blue pills. Now he's hard up.
A survey last week revealed that Viagra (scientific name: mycoxafloppin) has now been used by an incredible one in four British males.
I think Viagra is one of our greatest medical breakthroughs.
Apart from the fact it has stopped countless women accusing their husbands of assault with a dead weapon, the famous love drug has also spawned a million jokes.

What about the first fatality caused by a Viagra overdose? A man took 48 tablets and his wife died.

"Do you have a prescription?" asks the bloke behind the counter.

The answers I received to last week's competition also tickled the funny bone.

A French prison doctor has admitted prescribing the sexual booster drug Viagra to a convicted paedophile who was freed early and abducted and sexually assaulted a five-year old-boy.

The disturbing case of Francis Evrard, 61, provoked an emergency meeting of the French government yesterday which promised a full investigation and draconian new penalties on paedophiles.

President Nicolas Sark-ozy said he wanted voluntary "chemical castration" of paedophiles. Child-sex offenders would now serve their full terms, with no remission, he said. Those judged dangerous by doctors would be sent to a new, secure hospital in Lyons.

"Those who refuse to be treated would remain there as long as they are considered dangerous," the President said. This implied offenders who refused chemical castration would face life in detention. The prison doctor, in Caen in Normandy, said he had no knowledge of the prisoner's previous record when he prescribed the drug in June although Evrard was was serving 27 years for raping a child.

Last week, 45 days after he left jail, Evrard abducted the little boy in Roubaix in northern France. He was arrested within hours, thanks to a new public alert system, but had already sexually assaulted the child.

Evrard had the Viagra pack in his pocket and had taken one. At first, police refused to believe his story, but they spoke to the prison doctor, and the public prosecutor in Lille has confirmed his account.

The case has provoked consternation in France and considerable embarrassment for President Sarkozy, who has promised to be tough on crime and especially on repeat offenders.

"It is like giving a bomb to a terrorist as he comes out of prison," said Emmanuel Riglaire, lawyer for the victim's family.

The President had a 30-minute meeting at the Elysée Palace yesterday with the father and grandfather of the child. The boy's father said: "I came here today to ask for a change in the law for monsters like this person. I don't think it's normal that he should be outside jail."

Later, President Sarkozy convened an emergency meeting of members of the government, including the Prime Minister, Francois Fillon, to discuss the case.

The doctor at the Caen prison said Evrard had told him he wanted to "meet women" as part of his rehabilitation when he left jail. He was not aware his patient was a paedophile.

The prison officers' union in Caen dismissed this claim as "unacceptable". A union leader said 75 per cent of the prisoners in the Caen unit were child-sex offenders. It was absurd for a prison doctor to prescribe such a drug without first checking. sex

"We warned the prison authorities that Evrard was saying dangerous things," the union leader said. "He said, for instance, that he wanted to go to countries where it would be easy to obtain children."

Weeks before his release, Evrard was punished for having a picture of a naked child in his cell. Prison officers and magistrates' national representatives said the case showed that the real problem was the lack of co-ordination and resources in the French judicial and prison system.

Evrard had been convicted of indecent assaults and rapes of children in 1975, 1985 and 1989. He was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the 1989 offence but served 18 years, the normal one-third remission allowed under French law.

Thanks Viagra Sixty Plus: Let's talk about sex -- among seniors

Sex sells -- just turn on the TV or flip open a magazine to see that. However, try talking about senior citizens and sex.

Society treats seniors like they are asexual, that sex is no longer of interest. Research shows that is not the case at all.

Marilyn Renaudette, an elder clinician, remarked that her senior friends who are dating again have found it's much like a return to puberty.

"This is frequently a subject of conversation when the 'girls' are together," she said. "Dating is difficult due to all of the youthful expectations in our society about sex. It's important for the older generation to know that sex doesn't have to stop, but it may take 'different' forms."

Today's seniors are staying active and that includes a healthy sex life. Recent advances in medicine, including Viagra, have allowed couples to continue a regular sex life. Among seniors age 75 and older with partners, 25 percent of those said they has sex at least once a week, and more than 70 percent with partners had sex at least once a month. For younger seniors the numbers are even higher: 87 percent of married men and 84 percent of married women in the 60-65 age group are sexually active.

Walter Bortz, author of three books on healthy aging as well as several studies on senior's sexuality, has been quoted as saying "Use it or lose it." A Duke University study shows that some 20 percent of people over age 65 report having a better sex life now than ever before. The reasons why: Many seniors are retired; the kids are out of the house; and couples have more time to devote to their relationship.
